Biographical Note
George Fayer was an English portrait photographer who served as the official
photographer of the League of Nations. Born June 8, 1892 in Budapest, Hungary. Died
Nov. 5, 1950 in Cannes, France.
Scope and Content Note
The George Fayer collection includes portraits of military and political leaders,
musicians, scholars, public officials, celebrities and delegates to the United
Nations. It also includes notables such as Dean Acheson, Sara Churchill, Charles de
Gaulle, Thomas Dewey, Anthony Eden, Jascha Heifetz, John Maynard Keynes, Louis
Krasner, Vivian Leigh, Archibald MacLeish, John Pierpont Morgan, Herbert Putnam,
Edward R. Stettinius, Arturo Toscanini, Wendell Willkie, among others.
