The papers of Thomas Sidney Jesup, army officer and quartermaster general of the army, together with papers of the Croghan and Blair families, were purchased by the Library of Congress primarily in 1935 and 1936. Additional items were obtained by gift, purchase, and exchange from various sources between 1916 and 1955. Some papers for the Croghan family have been processed separately and some items for the Blair family have been added to the Blair Family Papers in the Manuscript Division.
The papers of Thomas Sidney Jesup were arranged and described in 1984. The finding aid was revised in 2010.

The papers of Thomas Sidney Jesup (1788-1860) span the years 1780-1907. The collection contains correspondence, memoranda, diaries, reports, essays, family papers, financial records, journals, maps, photographs, printed matter, and miscellaneous items relating to the War of 1812, the Seminole and Mexican wars, and to Jesup's service as Quartermaster General of the United States Army and is organized in the following series: General Correspondence, Family and Financial Papers, Miscellany, and Oversize.
The General Correspondence contains drafts of communications of Jesup and his military associates, including John Armstrong, Robert Brent, Jacob Brown, Lewis Cass, Leslie Chase, Truman Cross, John Lane Gardner, George Hancock, A. R. Hetzel, Henry Leavenworth, Daniel Parker, J. C. Pickett, Henry Stanton, and John G. Todd.
The Family and Financial Papers series includes correspondence, household accounts, and genealogical records of the Blair, Croghan, and Jesup families.
The Miscellany series contains items relating to Jesup's various military campaigns, notes , printed matter, and a letterbook, 1835-1836, of J. F. Lane.
