The papers of Wilhelm Reich (1897-1957) span the years 1920-1952 and include correspondence, minutes, writings by Reich and others, explanatory notes by Reich, lists, programs, and photographs. The papers are in German and English. The bulk of the collection consists of photocopies, transcripts, and translations of correspondence to and from Reich concerning the development of Reich’s theories, his break with Sigmund Freud and the psychoanalytic movement in 1934, and his involvement with communist and socialist movements in Austria and Germany during the 1920s and 1930s. Prominent correspondents include Max Eitingon, Otto Fenichel, Sándor Ferenczi, Anna Freud, and Bronislaw Malinowski.
