original press releases released by the American television networks ABC and CBS between
June 11, 1962 and July 4, 1970. The original press releases were collected by David A.
Dunsford. The press releases pertain to news programs, television specials,
documentaries, movies of the week, religious programs, variety shows, talk shows, soap
operas, news programming, dramas, and situation comedies broadcast by ABC and
CBS.

Organizational Note
The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) was founded in 1943 from the assets of the
National Broadcasting Company (NBC) Blue Network. Television network operations
commenced in 1948.
The Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) was founded in 1929 as a radio broadcasting
network. Television operations began in 1931 with the establishment of experimental
station W2XAB in New York City. W2XAB received a commercial license as WCBW (later
renamed WCBS) in 1941. Television network operations commenced in 1948.
Scope and Content Note
This collection contains photocopies of original press releases released by the American
television networks ABC and CBS between June 11, 1962 and July 4, 1970. The original
press releases were collected by David A. Dunsford. The press releases pertain to news
programs, television specials, documentaries, movies of the week, religious programs,
variety shows, talk shows, soap operas, news programming, dramas, and situation comedies
broadcast by ABC and CBS.
