Muriel H. Parry was born 1922 in New York City and died in 2004. She began her career as a map librarian with the American Geographical Society from 1942 to 1944. She accepted a position as a map librarian with the University of Illinois in 1944 (see folder 812). Three years later, she was hired as a map librarian for the U.S. State Department, where she worked until 1975.
The collection consists of some 871 maps, which are largely pictorial, that depict most parts of the world.
The items follow Parry's arrangement. Series were added by the Geography and Map Division to assist in the researcher. Parry filed some maps out of order, and in such cases, this is noted.
