Scripts, 1964-2009
1964-2009
This series primarily contains typed scripts for musical theater productions, some
of which are annotated. Productions include those for which Burton Lane composed
the music, as well as events in celebration of his music or scripts for his
review. There are multiple versions of scripts for Finian's
Rainbow and On a Clear Day You Can See
Forever, some of which are for posthumous productions that were provided
to his widow Lynn. Differences between these versions are noted when that
information is available.
Arranged alphabetically.

Photographs, 1915-1996
1915-1996
This series contains photographs of Burton Lane alone and with others, and events
that Lane attended. The photographs of Lane alone are primarily portraits, some of
which date from his youth, but there are a few snapshots present as well. Lane
appears with others in many photographs, either just in pairs, or in large groups.
The events documented in this series include the opening of the American Musical
Theater exhibit at the Library of Congress in 1962, Irving Berlin's 50th birthday
party, rehearsals and recording sessions for On a Clear Day
You Can See Forever, and Songwriters Hall of Fame events. There are a
few inscribed photographs of other people, such as George Gershwin, Irving Berlin,
Morton Gould, and Jimmie Durante.
Arranged in four file units: Burton Lane alone, Burton Lane with others, Others,
and Events. Arranged either chronologically or alphabetically by subject
therein.
