The papers of Worthington Chauncey Ford, librarian and historian, were deposited in
the Library of Congress by Ford, circa 1902-1909. Additional items were made by gift,
purchase, and the addition of foundling, 1943-1957.

The Ford Papers were processed 1939 with additions in 1943 and 1957. The finding aid
was revised in 2014.

The papers of Worthington C. Ford (1858-1941) span the years circa 1900-1926, with the
bulk of the material concentrated in the period 1901-1909 while Ford was chief of the
Manuscript Division of the Library of Congress. Included is an untitled book draft by
Ford on European and American history, indexes of historical papers, including of Thomas
Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton, and notes on China, Cuba, Netherlands East Indies,
France, Germany, Greece, Russia, and other countries and topics. Also included are
notes, research notebooks and correspondence from later in his career.
