The papers of Victoria Henrietta Kugler Nesbitt (1874-1963) span the years 1933-1949
when she was housekeeper at the White House. The collection consists of diaries,
correspondence, manuscripts and galley proofs of her two books,
The Presidential
Cookbook: Feeding the Roosevelts and Their Guests
(1948) and
White House Diary
(1948), and a large subject file. Included are an incomplete
daily calendar of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's appointments, a nearly complete file
of menus, memoranda of entertainments at the White House, miscellaneous household
memoranda, and recipes.
