The papers of Theodore Alfred Bingham (1858-1934) span the years
1897-1903 and consist of newspaper clippings, photographs, and miscellaneous
material relating to official functions at the White House, the death of
President William McKinley in 1901, the visit of Heinrich, Prince of Prussia in
1902, and the unveiling of the statue of Jean-Baptiste-Donatien de Vimeur,
comte de Rochambeau in Lafayette Park near the White House in 1902. These
events took place while Bingham was in charge of public buildings and grounds
in Washington, D.C., under the United States Army Corps of Engineers Office of
Public Buildings and Grounds.
