The papers of Theodore Parker, Unitarian clergyman, theologian, author, and abolitionist, were purchased by the Library of Congress, 1918-1982.
The papers of Theodore Parker were processed in 1965 and revised and expanded in 1984. The finding aid was revised in 2009 by David Mathisen. The finding aid was updated in 2023 by Maria Farmer as part of a division-wide remediation project by the Inclusive Description Working Group.

The papers of Theodore Parker (1810-1860) span the years 1838-1910, with the bulk of the material concentrated in 1850-1860. The collection consists of correspondence, writings, poetry, and printed material relating to Parker's antislavery lectures and to the publication of his biography and collected writings, including transcripts by others and reminiscences of him. Correspondents include James Gillespie Birney, E. P. Clark, Rufus Leighton, Horace Mann, Oliver Johnson, F. B. Sanborn, and Parker's wife, Lydia Dodge Cabot Parker.
