The family papers of Henry Northrup Castle (born 1853) span the years 1394-1920 with the bulk of the material dating from 1878 to 1920. The collection is in English and consists of genealogical correspondence, research files, charts, and lists documenting the descendants of Henry Castle (1613-1697) who emigrated from England to Connecticut in 1635. A draft of a family history written by Henry Northrup Castle in 1907-1908 is included. Correspondence features copies of letters from Samuel Northrup Castle (1806-1894) relating, in part, to his experiences as an agent for the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions in Hawaii beginning in 1836 and his cofounding of Castle & Cooke, a commercial firm in Hawaii. Other material includes a draft of a children's book, "Dorothy and Martians," by Marie L. Castle, wife of Henry Northrup Castle.
