The papers of William Howard Taft III (7 Aug. 1915-1991) span the years 1915-1953 and consist of correspondence primarily between Taft and his parents, Robert A. Taft and Martha Wheaton Bowers Taft, especially during his school years at the Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut, at Yale University, and as a graduate student at Princeton University. Also included are three letters from Horace D. Taft and one letter of congratulations from William H. Taft to his son, Robert A. Taft, upon the birth of William Howard Taft III. In these papers, Robert and Martha Taft's son was called William Howard Taft II during the 1930s but by 1947 was addressed as William Howard Taft III.
This collection is arranged alphabetically by name of correspondent and therein chronologically.
