Scope and Content Note
The papers of Malcolm Toon (1916- ) span the years 1946-1998, with the bulk of the material dating from 1992 to1998. The papers are in English and Russian and are organized in the following series: [Scrapbooks](scrap), [Miscellany](misc), [Oversize](ovsz), and [Classified](class).
The [scrapbooks](scrap) include correspondence, ephemera, photographs, printed matter, and reports regarding the work of the United States-Russia Joint Commission on POW/MIA Affairs. The commission tracked military personnel missing from World War II, the Cold War, and the Korean, Vietnam, and Afghanistan conflicts. Prominent members of the commission included the Russian cochair Dmitrii Antonovich Volkogonov and United States Senator Pete Peterson. Social activities of the commissioners are also documented.
