  • -  Summary: Gregory Powell was reading e-mail when he heard a prolonged rumble which he thought was a truck driving over a steel plate. He looked out the window and saw paper raining down like a ticker tape parade. He looked up and saw the north tower in flames. He describes the time he spent in the basement of his building without accurate information about what was going on. He talks about responding to voice and electronic mail messages and the impact the crisis had on his family. Mr. Powell believes we have to make something of the tragedy; otherwise all we have is pain.
